PLAYER REGISTRATION: All players must be registered on their teams’ registration form before the start of the tournament. Any team or player determined by the tournament director to have falsified age or skill level will be disqualified from the tournament. All players must proof of age, ie: player pass, driver’s license or birth certificate.

TOURNAMENT BRACKET FORMATION: Registration is based upon both birth year and skill level. The tournament director uses this and any other information available to form the brackets. When registering, each age group includes two choices for registration; a higher bracket and a lower bracket. Teams that consider themselves to be more competitive should select the higher bracket and teams that consider themselves to be less competitive should select the lower bracket. All division placements will be reviewed by the tournament director and teams may, at the sole discretion of the tournament director, be moved up or down to form the most competitive brackets possible.

ROSTERS: Six (6) is the maximum number of players on a team; three (3) field players at one time. Teams playing more than 6 players during the course of the tournament will be disqualified. Players may only play on one team per division. There are no goalkeepers. If you need to make changes to your roster, you must do so at the team check in. Rosters are frozen after check in.

COACH: A coach may be a parent, volunteer, or professional coach. We do mandate that the coach of your team treats his/her players and referees with respect and dignity.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutes may occur at any dead ball situation, but players must be called onto the field by the referee and enter and exit at the half-field mark only. Players must already be at the half-field mark when the dead ball situation first occurs to be called on.

GENDER: No males will be allowed to participate in any female divisions, except co-ed division. Females are able to play in male divisions. Co-ed division must have at least one female on the field at all times.

EQUIPMENT: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. Teams are responsible for providing game balls. Preferred Ball Size for 2011’s, 2010’s, 2009’s = #4; 2008’s and up = #5. In the event that age divisions are combined, the teams should use the older division’s ball size.

UNIFORMS: Teams must wear similar colored jerseys and each team must have a dark and light colored shirt available. Numbers are not required, and jerseys do not have to be identical, just close enough so that it is clear that the players are on the same team.

FIELD DIMENSIONS & GOALS: Width: 25-30 yards, Length: 35-40 yards. The goals are approximately xx feet high by xx feet wide.

GOAL BOX: The goal box, ten feet wide by eight feet deep, is directly in front of the goal. No player may touch the ball within the goal box, however any player may move through the goal box. Any part of the ball or player’s body on the line is considered in the goal box; the player is an extension of the box. An infraction occurs if a defender touches the ball in the goal box, a penalty kick is awarded to the attacking team. If an attacking player touches the ball within the goal box, a goal kick is awarded to the defending team. Habitual touches in the goal box may result with a Yellow Card given to the offending party. If the ball comes to a complete stop in the goal box, regardless of which team touched it last, a goal kick is awarded to the defending team.

GAME DURATION: The game shall consist of two 15 minute halves separated by a three minute halftime, OR the game ends when a team reaches a 10 goal lead. Group games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie. Playoff games cannot end tied. The referee has the official time on the field and holds the right to take necessary action if he/she feels that a team is delaying the game. Any player may be cautioned with a yellow card if it is deemed by the referee that the player is intentionally wasting time, such as if a player intentionally kicks the ball long distances away from the playing field in order to waste time. There are no timeouts and the Game Clock does not stop. In the event that a field is behind schedule, the referee may shorten the halftime period, or limit warm-up time prior to game (the referee should communicate any shortened time to each team). The referee has the official time on the field.

PLAYOFF OVERTIME: TEAMS WILL HAVE A 5 MINUTE “GOLDEN GOAL” OVERTIME PERIOD. If the score is still tied, the winner is decided by shootout with the 3 players on the field at the end of golden goal period. Kicks in the shootout should be taken from the kick-off spot at the half line.

GOAL SCORING: A goal may only be scored from a touch (offensive or defensive) within the team’s offensive half on the field. The ball must be completely on the offensive half of the field, and cannot be touching the midline (Example: kick-off). If a player in their defensive half kicks the ball across the midline and the ball hits another player (offensive or defensive) in their offensive half, and the ball goes in the goal, a goal will be awarded. If a ball is kicked from the defensive half and is not touched before the ball rests in the goal, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. A goal cannot be scored from an indirect kick, such as a kick-in from out-of-bounds, unless 2 players touch the ball before a goal is scored.

SCORING (IN GROUP PLAY): 3 points for a win; 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.

FORFEITS: A forfeit shall be scored as 5-0. Teams are given five minutes from scheduled game time, or from delayed start time due to unforeseen circumstances, before a forfeit is issued by the referee. All forfeits must be approved by the Tournament Director before the game is considered an official forfeit. The Tournament Director has the option to replay a forfeited game if deemed necessary. A team forfeiting three games during pool play may be removed from the tournament.

TIEBREAKERS: In group play, ties between two or more teams will be broken by; 1) goal difference in group play; 2) fewest goals against in group play; 3) goals scored in group play; 4) head to head results between tied teams.

NO OFFSIDES, NO SLIDE TACKLING AND NO HEADING

HEADING: When a player deliberately heads the ball in a game, an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offense.

FIVE YARD RULE: In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand five yards away from the ball. If the defending player’s goal area is closer than five yards, the ball is placed five yards from the goal area in line with the place of the penalty.

KICK-INS: The ball shall be kicked in to play from the sideline instead of thrown in.

INDIRECT KICKS: All dead ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kick-offs) are indirect except corner and penalty kicks.

GOAL KICKS: May be taken from any point on the end line, and not in the goal box area.

KICK OFF: May be taken in any direction.

PENALTY KICKS: Shall be awarded if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction. It is a direct kick taken from the top of the center circle (15ft. line) on the offensive side of the midfield line with all other players behind the midfield line. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with a goal kick. Penalty kicks are not live balls.

PLAYER/BENCH PERSONNEL/PARENT EJECTION: Referees have the right to eject a player, coach or parent from any game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants ejection. Players, Coaches or parents who are ejected by the referee or tournament official must leave the field and area around the field before play will continue. If a player, coach or parent refuses to leave, the game may be forfeited in favor of the opposing team.

SPORTSMANSHIP: Players, coaches and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event.

WEATHER RELATED ISSUES: Tournament Staff reserves the right to modify, reschedule, or cancel the tournament due to inclement weather. The Tournament Director has the right to move or reschedule games, as well as the right to shorten game lengths. Every effort possible will be made to play the games. Where possible, and if game/division winners are discernable, awards may be distributed to winning teams, however, awards are not guaranteed if winners are not discernable. Team entry fees are non-refundable. There will be a 80% refund granted if the tournament is canceled due to inclement weather before the day of the tournament.

SITUATIONS THAT THESE RULES DO NOT ADDRESS ARE THE DECISION OF THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.
